Pool Hall "Under New (and dubious) Management"
Ad is from about 1926. According to a Sept. 22, 1926 article in the Emmons Leader, the South Side Pool Room was raided by the Freeborn, Worth, and Winnebago Sheriff's Departments (due to its location at the border of all three counties) for illegally selling liquor. The manager, Irving Glisleson, fled town. According to a Feb. 2, 1927 Emmons Leader article, Gisleson was arrested in Mason City following an investigation by police into a "truck robbery." Gisleson was found with 4 gallons of alcohol in his possession and tried to give police a false name.
